Hackathon Rules & Guidelines
Domains / Tracks
Participants can innovate in any of the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML)
- Drones & Robotics
- Healthtech & Medtech
- Augmented Reality (AR) / Virtual Reality (VR) & Internet of Things (IoT)
- Cybersecurity
Team Formation Rules
- Each team must consist of at least two members and utmost four members.
- All team members must belong to the same college (no inter-college teams allowed).
- Each participant can join only one team.
- Participants must be currently enrolled students of a recognized college or university.
Event Format
Day 1
- Registration and introductory ceremony.
- Idea pitching and initial screening sessions.
- Development and prototyping phase begins.
Day 2
- Continuation of development and reviews.
- Final submission, demo, and judging.
- Valedictory and prize distribution ceremony.
Prototypes Guidelines
- Prototypes can be hardware-based, software-based, or hybrid.
- Use of open-source tools, frameworks, and models is allowed (with proper credits).
- Each team should maintain a GitHub (or similar) repository for submissions.
- A demo and short presentation are mandatory during the final judging round.
Judging Criteria
Prototypes will be evaluated based on:
- Innovation & Originality – Novelty of the idea and creative thinking.
- Technical Implementation – Quality, functionality, and complexity of the solution.
- Impact & Practicality – Usefulness, scalability, and real-world relevance.
- Design & User Experience – Clarity, accessibility, and polish of the prototype.
- Presentation & Teamwork – Delivery, communication, and coordination during demo.
General Rules
- Participants must carry their valid college ID cards.
- Inter-college teams[Two Different Colleges in the Same Team] are not permitted.
- Plagiarized or pre-built(bought) projects will result in immediate disqualification.
- Teams must adhere to the submission deadlines strictly.
- The decision of the judging panel will be final and binding.
- Participants must uphold professional and respectful conduct at all times.
- Accommodation and meals may be provided for outstation participants, on request (details will follow, post registration).
Awards & Recognition
- First Prize is Rs 50,000, Second Prize is Rs 30,000 and Third prize is Rs 20,000, for each track.
- Attractive prizes, goodies, and internship opportunities for top teams may be provided
- Certificates of Participation for all eligible teams.
Registration & Problem Statement
- Registration closes on 25th December 2025.
- Registration Fee: Rs 500(excluding GST)
- Teams must register at events.vit.ac.in
- Visit events.vit.ac.in -> Log In (or) Register -> Search for InnoHack 2026 -> Register. Payment as well as Registration will be done here.
- Maximum of 45 Teams per track So secure your spot now!
- Problem statements will be released on 05th January 2026.
- Teams are allowed to choose problem statements until 10th January 2026 after which they have to finalize and submit the chosen Problem Statement.
Hackathon Dates
- The hackathon will be conducted on 20th and 21st of January 2026 at VIT Vellore
